Hi there. I'm a GNU/Linux system administrator by trade; I live and work outside Washington, DC. I work at a scientific agency of the federal government (which I'm not naming, even though it's not a secret, because this is my personal web site, and I'm not speaking for anyone but myself. If you're really curious about who I work for, ask me offline.) I've also worked in the academic and private sectors, and spent a few years trying my hand at web development.
Outside of work, I am primarily a family man, but I also enjoy music, baseball, spicy foods, cold beer, and a great many other things. I sometimes make it out to events that interest me.
Recent stuff
- I won't be buying an iPad.
- I'm starting to cancel accounts I no longer use on other sites. Here's a list of cancelled accounts for public reference.
- Trisquel is my current operating system of choice.
- I quit Facebook.
- A page about Identi.ca, a principled alternative to Twitter.
- I'm working mostly on a netbook these days. I'm keeping track of my experiences.
- My old friend Jack Rose died unexpectedly in 2009. I took a few minutes to remember him.
Etc.
